This fabulous mohair is as shiny soft as it looks! I get this from a very special hybrid breed of angora kid goat here in Texas that renders the most beautiful natural mohair for reborn dollmaking.  An excellent diet and gentle treatment are essential for a goat to grow such a beautiful fleece!

Important note to mention on hand-processing mohair for reborn dolls is that over processing the hair can actually dull and damage the strands and remove their beautiful luster... although the roving process removes 99 percent of any debris in the fleece and locks... one still may find very, very small particles and tiny bits of vegetable matter or straw occasionally still in the hair in random areas of the fleece but they are completely sanitized and can be easily brushed or worked out... this feature of angora mohair is mentioned also be Stephanie Sullivan in her Art and Magic of Reborning Tutorial Book that we offer.

This mohair is as beautiful and soft as can be and is color dyed to perfection. This is the top-of-the line roving I offer and is made from Texas Kid Mohair.  There is a big difference between kid mohair and adult goat mohair... kid mohair usually develops these wonderful waves to it and also has the most gorgeous Sheen!

I have posted a before and after picture (above) of this same type of hair before I dyed it and after so you can see the gorgeous sheen and natural waves this kid mohair makes all on it's own when properly dyed in an animal protein acid dye bath

This lusterous roving mohair has been hand-dyed to a cool palette color tone I call Heather Brown.  I love the way this shade catches the light and looks so natural.  The pictures show off the beauty of this custom hair color - You will see when you get your mohair how nicely it catches the light and the color can actually appear slightly lighter in tone due to this quality.  For this reason Mohair is termed the Diamond Fiber in it's industry

I do not take 'short-cuts' in my mohair preparation.  If you have purchased dyed mohair in the past from other vendors that feels very dry and brittle with faded color  please know that  I personally clean and prepare all my mohair in multiple washes and rinses before I dye it.  I do not use nor recommend human hair dyes for mohair that will be used on Reborn Dolls.  Mohair is not the same protein content fiber and human hair dye can fade over time - I use professional and permanent protein animal fiber dyes that I color mix to our own specialty tones for Reborn Doll Artists

Because ALL mohair does come from young and busy little farm animals, it is near impossible to get every speck of vegetable matter out of the hair without over processing it and losing it's beautiful sheen.  This mohair has been completely sanitized and cleaned.  Because of the roving process, the hair is virtually vegetable matter free.  If you do happen to find little specks here and there of clean vegetable matter... I find I can usually shake this out on it's own or work it out of the hair as I root the locks.
